Project Academy provides students and drop-outs with learning life-skills for college or career entry.  We offer after-school and pre-employment programs that build community and company value.  The information listed below is to help guide and achieve this.

A Bit of Background:
Project Academy is a 501 (C)3 non-profit corp. whose purpose is to serve the community by successfully preparing entry level people & high school students to be productive in business, education & society organizations. Our students develop college or career Readiness Life-Skills and see themselves as owners of their own business and learning with a positive attitude, caring for the customers with continuous improvement and looking to learn and get better at what they do.
Needs: 
 Besides academic skills, students & young adults need life skills to communicate, work in teams, problem solve, social & emotional learning and personal skills to interact with the community, educational and business organizations.

Program:
The program is to train these young adults into “Thinking Technician”; who are productive employees/persons by learning life skills in a project and mindset learning environment. Our environment is to get the students to think like an owner and understand how corporations and organization work (the good/bad).

Purpose:

The purpose of Project Academy is to serve the community by supporting middle & high school age students and young adults entering the work force (drop outs) to learn skills that will help them succeed in a career or additional schooling (college and career readiness skills(CCR ))

Mission:

Become the leader in our community in supporting at risk students to achieve sustainable careers 
• Help drop-outs and students at risk to get back into society and be productive members. 
• To see learning as fun and a necessary part of retaining a job while becoming life-long learners. 
• To develop the reasoning skills to help entry level workers manage in today’s society and to begin to build a set of skills as thou you are in your own business. 
• Students will learn that problems are opportunities. The bigger the problem, the bigger the opportunity. (Vinod Khosla)

Vision:

To grow our services into after-school, pre-employment and custom services for life-skill training programs. Become a leader in getting these skills taught in our public schools within the next 3 years. Serving the community with training entry level personal with soft-skills to be success in providing value to the business community and society. 
• Create relationship with community and business organizations to be their partner in training productive people for their organizations. To become an active organization in our states training programs within 3 years 
• Provide skills for various industries such as Hospitality, food industry, manufacturing and others within two years  

Goals:

Develop employees to have a positive outlook of work with the understanding that they have control of their outcome within two months of their completion of the program 
• Provide a holistic approach to supporting the success of these students, Publish a documents defining the process and tools within 6 months of the start of the program. 
• Build a organizational team that creates the best results for these candidates within 6 months.  

Entering the Workforce

The purpose of Project Academy is to serve the community by successfully preparing entry level people to be productive in the work environment & society. The pre-employment school is a 16-week course where students in a multiple learning mode experience team work, problem solving, field trips to organizations, how to operate as your own business and learning the skills around the engineering mind-set. The program will incorporate skills needed by our corporate partners.

Uniqueness of our approach 
Our approach is to foster Mind-set thinking in the team. 
  Students are shown how to be an owner of their own business; what’s involved with their customers, suppliers and staff. Thinking like an owner allows you to interface and understand your boss and constantly improving your skills. 

Activities around the process that cover all the details to make it successful. Its assuring that all the team are aware of items, plans are created, deliverable are met, problems solved, analytical approach is taken, leadership is provided and the customer is informed. 

Brain Plasticity… The brain is like a muscle … Use it or lose it.

Work together as a learning team when doing the project. 

Learning process 

Pre-employment program: Young adults need a fun & supportive environment that fosters a learning mindset that gets them into the corporate workforce.   
Our 16 week programs offer Project-Based Learning and Service Learning activities to immerse students in hands-on learning experiences that develops both their academic and social-emotional skills. 
The skills are acquired through team work & problem solving learning.  The needs of each student is assessed to insure that support is given for housing, mental health, transportation, legal and other items.  
The program is coordinated with both the business and community organizations. Our students will have general skills to enter the work force.  Specific needs of the targeted companies will be included based on conversations with the HR departments of the partnered companies. . 

After-school program:  Provide middle & high-school students with an environment of fun learning activities around team building and solving community / world problems.  Life skills are embedded into  the activities while the students are solving real problems and reporting back to the community on their success.  
  

Student take away:   Be a well rounded and contributing employee within the company.

Acquire self-awareness and apply self-management skills to achieve personal well-being and effectiveness 
• Act with integrity and make responsible decisions that uphold moral principles 
• Acquire social awareness and apply interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships based on mutual respect
